Shirodhara is a form of Ayurvedic therapy that involves pouring warm medicated liquids gently over the forehead. The name comes from the Sanskrit word Shira(head) and dhara(flow).
Shirodhara, as an important part of detox therapy, helps clear the nervous and blood circulatory tracts in our body, and with better circulation the brain gets a greater supply of oxygen. It is used for the treatment of a number of disorders as well as for relaxing purposes and relief from stress and tension.
The Tridoshas(Vata, pitta, Kapha) and the corresponding imbalances of a person would play a major role in deciding the fluids used in Shirodhara.
All treatments have to be done based on the recommendation of the Ayurvedic practitioner.
